I found that it was the most interesting for me when they got onto the
boat and caught fish, they were drinking, and there was a small fist fight. It
kept me glued to find out how they were going to get on and what the police
were going to do. Although when McMurphay offers to make Bromden big again with
his special body-building course, he offered that he would pay for all his
fishing trip fees as long as he could lift the control panel in the tub room. I’m
confused onto why he had to life the panel? What are they going to do with it...?
I also find that McMurphay is very... out there with his “sexual life” it
disturbs me when he talks about what he did when they went back to his old home
and found a piece of cloth in the tree. He explains that it was a part of the
dress that the girl gave to him as a prize! This happened when he was ten... its
disgusting cause not only he was ten but the girl was younger than him by a few
years.
This part I can relate to very easily with my life because my brother
Chris is a professional body builder/trainer and he is actually Mr. National
(just thought I would mention that) he has won many competitions. My brother
always tries to get me to train and he bribes me with things just like
McMurphay did to Bromden. Also it’s kind of irrelevant but the boat scene when
they catch fish reminds me of fishing in Newfoundland with my family...
To relate this part of the book to the world I would relate it to some
really psycho people, and in a way we all have something crazy about us, but
not everyone has a conscious. McMurphay’s
just a little crazy about young women... and even though it’s not okay in
society at a certain age, some people don’t care what society thinks and they
do what they want. Like raping, killing, bullying, anything really. It doesn’t matter
to them as long as they are happy. And I can see this relating to this part of
the book because it really shows some of these characteristics in McMurphay. He bribes Bromden, he tells us the story of
the girl back home and even though Bromden says he seen his face looked “dreadfully
tired and strained and frantic, like there was not enough time left for
something he had to do.” I don’t think he really cares about what happened...
